Carlo Tosato is a versatile percussionist and composer who lives currently in Berlin. He began studying drumset at the age of 4, surrounded by a musicians family. At the young age of 12 he was admitted to the percussion class in Padova, and he continued the studies till 2019, year in which he moved to Germany. After an initial stay at HfM Detmold with Aron Lejendeckers, Arend Weitzel and Peter Prommel as orchestra teachers, he moved to UdK Berlin with Manuel Westermann, Jan Biesterfeldt and Simone Rubino as Teachers.

His career has already achieved accomplishments in both directions (orchestra and composition): member in 2024 of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, in 2023 of the Gustav Mahler Akademie in Bolzano, an annual Internship with the Bochumer Symphoniker, as well as being called as guest in top orchestras such as DSO Berlin, Bochumer Symphoniker and more. His orchestral career is funded and sustained also by the ZAV Künstlervermittlung München (a department of the german job center).

As a composer he can already claim two prizes in two different categories of the Italy PAS Competition 2023 as well as a call for scores in 2022 by the Vibraphone Project in USA. He has composed for various ensembles such as the Hagen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Göttingen Barock Orchester, the Ensemble Aventure. He’s active also with the composition of short soundtracks. His pieces are played worldwide by top classes such as the CvA Percussion conducted by Arnold Mariniessen or the Boston Conservatory.
